Established in 1942, the Brazilian National Service for Industrial Training (SENAI) is a private institution that supports the country’s socioeconomic development through professional and higher education, technological services and innovation projects, driving the transfer of industrial technologies for digital transformation, energy efficiency and productivity.

In the field of Professional and Technological Education (TVET), SENAI has trained more than 90 million people in multiple industry sectors since its creation. In 2025 alone, this number exceeded 3.3 million. As the largest private TVET provider in Latin America, SENAI employs more than 33,000 employees. It has 515 operational units, 519 mobile educational units and 2 school boats. SENAI is recognized by the United Nations as a leading educational institution in the Southern Hemisphere and by World Skills as one of the World’s foremost professional education providers.

SENAI offers Professional and Higher Education in close partnership with the productive sectors, spanning curriculum design, teaching methodologies and internships or placements. Structured on three pillars – skilling, upskilling, and reskilling – SENAI focuses on an effective agenda for developing professional competencies and technical and socio-emotional skills aligned with industry demand. This includes demand-driven courses tailored to the requalification of workers already active in the labour market.

In addition to TVET and Higher Education, SENAI also operates a network of Innovation and Technology Institutes. The Innovation Institutes focus on applied research to develop new products and services. In 2025, SENAI counts 28 Innovation Institutes in multiple thematic areas, including centers for biotechnology, advanced manufacturing, green chemistry and polymer engineering. SENAI Technology Institutes, in turn, provide metrology and consulting services that help reduce waste and environmental impact while improving productivity and production processes. To support these activities, SENAI operates 60 Technology Institutes and 232 service laboratories dedicated to metrology services.
