Skills for work and life

The Institute focuses on national vocational education and training systems in Germany as well as on international developments in TVET systems. Key priorities include advancing high-quality research, international monitoring and innovation in TVET.

This work is carried out through the close collaboration between the UNESCO Chair on TVET and Competence Development for the Future of Work and the Professorship of Education in the Context of Work and Occupations, both hosted at TU Dortmund University. The main thematic areas are work-based learning, workplace learning in companies, sustainable development and AI, with a focus on the development of curricula, assessment and TVET personnel. The Institute maintains extensive international networks, particularly in Europe, OECD countries and Southeast Asia.
