Misungwi Community Development Technical Training Institute (CDTTI) is a government-owned technical training institute under the current Ministry of Community Development, Gender, Women and Special Groups. The institute is approved and registered by the National Council for Technical and Vocational Education and Training(NACTVET)Since 2008, the institute offers a Basic Technician certificate in Civil engineering with Community development Programme NTA-level 4,Technician Certificate in Civil engineering with community development programme NTA-level 5 and An Ordinary Diploma in Civil engineering with Community Development programme NTA-level 6.

The Institute's purpose is to significantly contribute to the national and the community development (Building and Civil Aspects) by training Community Development Civil Technicians to respond to the country's ever–changing development needs.

The Objectives of the Institute are as follows:

• To equip trainees with skills in interpreting different designs into technical realities in building, structure and civil works water supply, and sanitation.
• To impart skills in producing low-cost, non-industrial building materials e.g. burnt bricks and roofing tiles.
• To provide skills in the use of various appropriate technologies (low-cost household energy, rainwater harvesting, wastewater and solid waste disposal).
• To equip trainees with quality basic knowledge in civil engineering to enable them to become effective change agents who can work with other extension staff to spearhead development at the grass root level.
