Founded in 1988, the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) is the largest applied higher education institution in the United Arab Emirates. It serves approximately 23,000 students across 16 campuses located in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Dubai, Fujairah, Ras Al Khaimah, Sharjah, and the Al Dhafrah region. HCT offers more than 70 programmes in fields such as Applied Media, Business, Computer Information Science, Education, Engineering Technology and Science, and Health Sciences. Programmes are developed in consultation with industry partners and emphasise innovation, entrepreneurship, and work‑relevant skills.
The institution follows a hybrid education model combining academic study with practical training, enabling students to obtain both accredited degrees and professional certifications. Aligned with national development strategies, including the UAE’s long-term vision and employment priorities, HCT contributes to workforce development and lifelong learning. Through international partnerships and its Global Applied Education Network, the institution also promotes collaboration and exchange in applied education.
