UNEVOC TVET Leadership Programme 2020 – Special Edition: 28 UNEVOC Centres propose actions to address COVID-19 challenges

The UNEVOC TVET Leadership Programme aims to build the capacity of TVET professionals to become effective change agents in their institutions. It provides a platform for networking and capacity building, and strengthens participants’ vision, knowledge, and skills for change. Since 2016, the global and regional editions of the UNEVOC TVET Leadership Programme have trained more than 200 TVET leaders from over 100 countries.

This year, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, UNESCO-UNEVOC will unfortunately not be able to carry out the UNEVOC TVET Leadership Programme in its usual format. This decision was taken considering the health risks to participants and experts travelling internationally for the programme.

Instead, UNESCO-UNEVOC has launched the UNEVOC TVET Leadership Programme 2020 – Special Edition. The Special Edition keeps in mind the programme’s spirit of “moving to action”. Through a call for proposals, UNESCO-UNEVOC invited alumni of previous editions of the programme to put forward activities that would support local networking and capacity building opportunities to address issues related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

More than 50 proposals were submitted, with the majority coming from within the UNEVOC Network. The review is ongoing and the selected proposals will be implemented by March 2021.
