Revising TVET curricula towards environmental sustainability

The Saudi Arabian Technical and Vocational Training Corporation (TVTC) is the lead body overseeing TVET provision. Currently, training in environment sustainability is offered in 89 vocational programmes. Training in ‘green’ principles is offered in programmes regardless of whether they are directly related to environment-related sectors.

Industry sectors requiring ‘green’ training include energy, logistics, tourism and others. The context for this provision is the Sustainable Development Goals, which are included in Saudi Vision 2030. The initiative is also aligned with several broader actions to improve TVET training and to improve its responsiveness to new labour market skills needs.
