The objective of the platform is to make operational vocational training policies through the mobilization, enhancement and empowerment of public and private actors involved in the implementation of the reform. The launch workshop of the Platform of Expertise in Vocational Training for Africa (Pefop) was held in Dakar on 2 and 3 November 2015, and brought together almost a hundred national and international officials and experts.
Its goal is to support the overhaul of vocational training policies in Africa in order to fuel economic growth and the competitiveness of firms through appropriate training offer,
and to help young people secure employment through stronger training-job adequacy.
In the first phase, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Mauritania and Senegal will benefit from technical support to operationalize their policies. To promote and share the best practices, a broad network of countries and stakeholders involved in the implementation of vocational training policy reforms is being developed.
The platform, which is part of the IIEP Pôle de Dakar, is financed by the French Agency for Development (AFD) - 6 million euros over 4.5 years.
