A high-level Malaysian delegation visited Germany from 5 to 9 May 2025 to participate in a comprehensive capacity and professionalism enhancement programme focused on technical and vocational education and training (TVET) data management and data-driven analytics.

This initiative was part of efforts under the 12th Malaysia Plan (RMK-12) to develop a robust TVET Big Data System. The programme was organized by the Department of Skills Development, Ministry of Human Resources, and supported by UNESCO-UNEVOC.

The delegation included 22 participants from various Malaysian ministries and agencies, such as the Ministry of Human Resources, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Youth and Sports, and the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security. Key figures included Mr Mohd Fadzli Mohd Radzi, Consul from the Consulate General of Malaysia in Frankfurt, Mr Mohd Sukri bin Ismail, Director of the Competency Certification Division, representatives from the Prime Minister's Department, Ministry of Rural and Regional Development, and the Ministry of Defence, among others.

UNESCO-UNEVOC organized key sessions on global TVET promising practices and innovation frameworks, while the German Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training (BIBB) led modules on TVET data management, strategic use of TVET data and emerging technologies in data analytics.

The delegation also gained practical insights into aligning TVET workforce skills with industry demands from study visits to Handwerkskammer Koblenz (UNEVOC Centre) and NKT GmbH & Co. KG.

The visit is expected to improve the competency of Malaysian officials in utilizing data analytics for policy-making and TVET programme development. Additionally, the delegation aims to adapt German approaches to enhance graduate employability and system effectiveness in Malaysia.

This initiative underscores Malaysia's commitment to creating a future-ready workforce and positioning TVET as a driver of economic growth and social mobility.
