Mathematical literacy

Mathematical literacy is defined in PISA as the capacity to identify, understand and engage in mathematics, and to make well-founded judgements about the role that mathematics plays in an individual’s current and future private life, occupational life, social life with peers and relatives, and life as a constructive, concerned and reflective citizen.

It provides data on the structure, finances and performance of education systems in the 35 OECD and a number of partner countries.” OECD Indicators offer a rich, comparable and up-to-date array of indicators that reflect a consensus among professionals on how to measure the current state of education internationally.
