Established in 1942, the Brazilian National Service for Industrial Training (SENAI) is a private institution that supports the country’s socioeconomic development through professional and higher education, innovation services, and the transfer of industrial technologies. Regarding Professional and Technological Education (TVET), SENAI has trained more than 89 million people in multiple industry sectors since its creation, and solely in 2023, this number surpassed 3 million. Being the largest private TVET education center in Latin America, the company has more than 33 thousand employees, 510 operational units, 521 mobile educational units, and 2 school boats. SENAI is recognized by the United Nations as the main educational institution in the South Hemisphere and by World Skills as one of the best professional education providers in the world.
The SENAI offers Professional and Higher Education in close contact with the productive sector, structured on three pillars: skilling, upskilling, and reskilling. The company focuses on an effective agenda for developing professional competencies and technical and socio-emotional skills according to the industry's demand.
Besides TVET and Higher Education, SENAI also operates a network of Innovation and Technology Institutes. The first one focuses on applied research to develop new products and services. In 2023, SENAI counts 27 Innovation Institutes in multiple thematic areas, including centers for biotechnology, advanced manufacturing, green chemistry, and polymer engineering. SENAI Technology Institutes, on the other hand, offer solutions to reduce waste and negative impacts on productive practices and productivity through metrology and consulting services. SENAI has 59 Technology Institutes and 232 service laboratories in metrology services.
