How to navigate the Global Skills Tracker
The Global Skills Tracker includes interactive filters that let you explore the data by narrowing down specific dimensions such as country, occupation, or economic activity. These filters are located at the top of the dashboard. Simply click on the dropdown menus to select the items you're interested in (e.g., a specific country or occupation group). In addition to these standard filters, the dashboard also supports interactive filtering through direct selection within the charts. For example, clicking on a bar in a chart will automatically filter the other charts to reflect your selection.

Click the information icon in the top right corner to access details about the classifications used in the dashboard and definitions of specific indicators.

Data classification standards
In the Global Skills Tracker, information on occupations, economic activity, and required education is structured according to internationally recognized classifications: Skills are classified using the Lightcast skills taxonomy, which captures and organizes the language of work as it appears in millions of online job postings.

Handling of "Not defined" values
In some cases, certain variables (economic activity, required education level, or region) may appear as "Not defined" in the dashboard. This indicates that the information was either not explicitly stated in the job advertisement or described in a way that lacks the level of detail required for classification.
These entries are included in the visualisations to ensure transparency and preserve the overall volume of job advertisements, but they should be interpreted with caution, especially when analysing distributions across detailed categories.

Data source information
The Global Skills Tracker provides insights based on millions of online job advertisements (OJA) collected by Lightcast from thousands of sources. These include private job boards, public employment service portals, recruitment agencies, online newspapers, and corporate websites.

Reference period and updates
To provide timely insights into labour market and skills trends, the Global Skills Tracker displays data for the last 12 available months. Global Skills Tracker is updated four times per year.
