Facilitating innovation in Iran’s Instructor Training Centre

About the project

The project addresses two areas, the needs for innovation of national TVET trainer and instructor training system in Iran and needs for raising the quality and relevance of TVET for employability of young people in Iran. The project directly benefits master trainers, instructors and teacher trainees through innovation and advancement of facilities and training methdologies. It provides support to managers, policy makers and researchers through capacity building opportunities.

The project is implemented by the UNESCO Tehran Office and UNESCO-UNEVOC for the period of 2023 to 2028. It is funded by the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).

Aims of the project

The project aims to strengthen the capacities of instructors and other personnel of the Instructor Training Center (ITC) affiliated with the Technical and Vocational Training Organization (TVTO) and upgrade the teaching and learning system at ITC Iran.

Specifically, it has the objectives to

  1. Contribute to innovating the Teaching and Learning facility of the ITC to facilitate technology readiness and foster quality workforce training in the critical trades and professional skills sectors in Iran.
  2. Create a new delivery and research-based strategy at the ITC and develop capacities of ITC/TVTO teaching and non-teaching personnel to foster quality and relevance.
  3. Provide support to youth through quality and inclusive vocational training and upskilling, career guidance, and mentorship programmes, promoting vocational skills excellence for the green, entrepreneurial, and digital transition.

Target beneficiary

The project directly benefits master trainers, instructors and teacher trainees through the innovation and advancement of facilities and training methodologies. It provides support to managers, policy-makers and researchers through capacity-building opportunities.

The project also benefits youth who will be engaged through upskilling programmes, youth-oriented activities, career guidance support and mentorship.
