UNEVOC Connect

The International Standard Classification of Teacher Training Programmes (ISCED-T) is a global framework developed by the UIS to classify teacher training programmes and related qualifications. It builds on the International Standard Classification of Education (ISCED) by adding dimensions specific to teacher education, such as teaching level, entry requirements, and practical training ratios.

ISCED-T enables the collection and comparison of cross-national data on teacher preparation, supporting the monitoring of Sustainable Development Goal 4.c on increasing the supply of qualified teachers. Adopted in 2021, it helps countries improve the quality and availability of teacher statistics, especially for pre-service education, and guides policy through internationally agreed categories.
