UNEVOC Connect

UNESCO is the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization. It contributes to peace and security by promoting international cooperation in education, sciences, culture, communication and information. UNESCO is the only United Nations agency with a mandate to cover all aspects of education. The organization coordinates the international community to achieve the education goals of Sustainable Development Goal 4 through partnerships, policy guidance, capacity development, monitoring and advocacy with the Education 2030 Framework for Action as roadmap. 

UNESCO is actively engaged to shape future developments of TVET. The organization's strategy for TVET for the years 2022-2029 takes into consideration the present and future priorities of individuals, economies, and societies. Its title, “Transforming Technical and Vocational Education and Training for successful and just transition”, further captures UNESCO’s expectation that TVET is critical for promoting a path to recovery and resilience building in the post-COVID-19 pandemic era, and for accelerating progress towards Sustainable Development Goals 4 and 8 and other related SDGs over the next eight years.

Many UNESCO staff all over the world deal with issues relating to TVET. They are located in national and regional UNESCO field offices, UNESCO’s Headquarters in Paris, UNESCO institutes and, in the UNESCO-UNEVOC International Centre in Bonn, Germany.
