Dear readers,
The UNESCO strategy for TVET 2022–2029, set to be launched in October in Bonn, considers a path to recovery, resilience building and the reimagining of education and training, as well as the critical role that technical and vocational education and training can play on this journey.
The title of the strategy, ‘Transforming TVET for successful and just transitions’, signals UNESCO’s recognition of the important contribution that TVET is expected to make to post-COVID-19 recovery and to sustainable development over the next eight years.
These interconnected themes of recovery and resilience are at the core of UNEVOC’s activities, particularly in terms of developing skills for the green transition, raising the digital competencies of TVET staff and fostering the ability to adapt in the face of disruptive challenges. This multifaceted approach to capacity building is geared towards strengthening resilience at the individual, institutional and systemic level.
Building on the momentum of the recently concluded Transforming Education Summit and the call to reboot education systems worldwide, we look forward to working together to identify concrete actions to support the implementation of the new strategy and to encourage a renewed ambition for TVET in Member States.

UNESCO-UNEVOC held two experts’ meetings on 19 and 24 August focusing on TVET sector resilience in the face of economic and employment trends, changing technology, climate change, natural disasters, conflicts and pandemics. Experts looked at overcoming disruptions, developing agile responses and creating more flexible TVET systems.

Raising the digital capacities of TVET staff: insights and lessons from a trends mapping study
This article in Issue 19 of the TVET@Asia journal summarizes the main findings of the UNESCO-UNEVOC trends mapping study on "Digital skills development in TVET teacher training". It points to future work to be done to provide a reliable evidence base and shares inspiring examples for designing effective digital skills policies and programmes.

Building skills for the green and circular transition

Call for proposals for the UNEVOC Network Coaction Initiative 2023
The UNEVOC Network Coaction Initiative is a programme designed and coordinated by UNESCO-UNEVOC that supports UNEVOC Centres in their development and implementation of joint projects based on topics of shared interests. World Teachers' Day
The theme for World Teachers' Day 2022 is “The transformation of education begins with teachers”. Celebrations will address the commitments and calls for action made at the Transforming Education Summit, in September 2022, and analyse the implications they have for teachers and teaching.
