Digital gap

(digital gap / digital divide)

Within a population, the disparity between individuals with access to information and communication technologies (ICT) and make use of services offered on the Web, and those without.

Comment

  • Participation of citizens and enterprises in the information society requires:
- access to information and communication technology (ICT), i.e. digital devices and internet connections;

- acquisition of skills needed to take part in the information society;

  • digital gap can be measured by gender, age, education, income, social groups or geographic location.
