UNEVOC Connect

UNESCO’s first Recommendation in the field of TVET was adopted in 1962 and it was also revised in 1974 and 2001. By comparison, the 2015 Recommendation uses a broader concept of TVET and has a stronger focus on lifelong learning and sustainable development. The Recommendation sets out general principles and goals for TVET, as well as provisions around five important areas:

• policies and governance,
• quality and relevance,
• monitoring and evaluation,
• research and knowledge management, and
• international co-operation.
