Dear readers,
As 2020 draws to a close, we are reminded of how this year’s unprecedented challenges have opened up new pathways for innovation and collaboration in TVET. The transition to virtual learning, training and capacity building has made knowledge exchange possible on an even greater scale and fostered the development of joint strategies to address collective challenges.
This year also signals the end of UNESCO-UNEVOC’s second Medium-Term Strategy (MTS-II). Under MTS-II, the expanded scope for knowledge sharing, collaboration and peer learning led to a better understanding of how different contexts affect outcomes at the institutional level. Its implementation was instrumental in bolstering links within the TVET community, strengthening the UNEVOC Network and developing the capacities of TVET leaders on a global level.
The Medium-Term Strategy for the period 2021-2023 (MTS-III) facilitates a shift towards a more inclusive, gender-equal and hands-on approach to supporting TVET actions on the ground. From January 2021, the new implementation phase will be guided by four principles: partnership, optimizing, prioritizing and adapting. Working alongside its partners, UNEVOC Centres and TVET stakeholders, UNESCO-UNEVOC will seek to advance future-oriented TVET that is more responsive to sustainable development and labour market demands.
We look forward to your continued support in implementing this shared vision in the coming years.
