Transformative journey: UNESCO-UNEVOC TVET Leadership Programme 2023
The 2023 edition of the UNESCO-UNEVOC TVET Leadership Programme (TLP) ran from October to December. The programme focused on'Managing change through transformative TVET Leadership' and was designed to sharpen leaders’ vision, share up-to-date knowledge and provide a platform for skills development.

Skills as an enabler for youth to participate in a just and green transition
UNESCO-UNEVOC, in collaboration with the Higher Colleges of Technology (UNEVOC Centre), the International Labour Organization and World Skills International, organized two sessions at COP28 to highlight the experiences of young people in acquiring relevant skills and knowledge to become agents of change for the green transition, and to present policy, practitioner and research perspectives.

BILT Learning Forum: Shaping skills development and strengthening global collaboration in TVET
The Bridging Innovation and Learning in TVET (BILT) project held a learning forum on ‘Striving for excellence: Shaping skills development and strengthening global collaboration in TVET’. Almost 400 participants joined on-site and online to explore innovative TVET practices and discuss policies that support excellence in TVET.

UNESCO-UNEVOC invited photographers from around the world to capture unique moments highlighting skills in action. We received more than 500 submissions showing how TVET equips young people with skills for inclusive and sustainable societies.

Since March 2023, an Expert Group commissioned by the Bridging Innovation and Learning in TVET (BILT) project has been investigating the impact of the dual green and digital transition on the hospitality and tourism sector. Empowering youth for a sustainable future
UNESCO-UNEVOC and WorldSkills co-organized an event on empowering youth for the future to celebrate World Youth Skills Day 2023. The hybrid event took place on 14 July in Bonn, Germany and it brought together WorldSkills Champions and apprentices, TVET trainers and trainees, employers’ associations and diverse stakeholders within the skills landscape.

New report by UNESCO, World Bank and ILO says TVET must improve to meet skills and labour mismatch
TVET systems in many low- and middle-income countries do not match skills and labour market needs and are unprepared to meet the large rise in demand for TVET in the coming years, according to a new joint study by UNESCO, World Bank and ILO.

UNESCO-UNEVOC and WorldSkills International have launched the TVET Youth Voices campaign as part of their joint World Youth Skills Day activities. The video campaign features youth from the WorldSkills Champions Trust and the UNEVOC Network.

BILT Expert Group on the dual transition in the hospitality and tourism sector
In 2023, the BILT project has a new focus on the impact of the green and digital transition on skills needs for the hospitality and tourism sector and the TVET system. In this context, a BILT Expert Group, composed of 29 members from Africa, Asia-Pacific, and Europe, will investigate the implications of this dual transition.
