Šolski center Nova Gorica becomes Slovenia’s first UNEVOC Centre
Šolski center Nova Gorica (ŠCNG) was officially inaugurated into the UNEVOC Network on 20 June 2025, becoming Slovenia’s first UNEVOC Centre. The hybrid ceremony gathered local and international TVET stakeholders, including partners, public officials and representatives from UNEVOC Centres, highlighting a shared commitment to innovative, inclusive and forward-looking TVET.

Virtual learning visit on green technologies & vocational excellence
On 19 March 2025, a virtual learning visit was organized by the European Training Foundation in collaboration with UNESCO-UNEVOC and the Bundesinstitut für Berufsbildung (BIBB – UNEVOC Centre in Germany). Together with a new German UNEVOC Centre, the Chamber of Skilled Crafts Ostwestfalen-Lippe in Bielefeld (HwK OWL) and the Danish Technological Institute, the webinar explored cutting-edge green technologies, innovative training ecosystems and solutions to bridge the skills gap in sustainable construction.

Open Educational Resources in TVET: Making education more accessible and affordable
"I still don’t understand – for the life of me – why more institutions are not lined up for OER." This statement by Dr Carl Morency, member of the MATC Open Access team, nicely summarizes the spirit of the Open Education journey of the Milwaukee Area Technical College. The team shared their story in a webinar aimed at building the capacity of TVET leaders and practitioners on the use of Open Educational Resources as a way to increase the innovation potential of educational offers and becoming more inclusive.

A joint project by the UNESCO Tehran Office and UNESCO-UNEVOC addresses two areas: Innovating the national TVET and instructor training system in Iran and raising the quality and relevance of TVET for employability of young people in Iran. The project is funded by the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).

The new members are ministries, national bodies, training providers and research institutions from Cambodia, Chile, Ecuador, Ethiopia, Georgia, Germany, India, Kiribati, Mauritius, Rwanda, Senegal, Slovenia, South Africa and Tunisia.

This last Learning Lab of the year will look at how to harness extended reality (XR) technologies, with a focus on virtual reality (VR), in TVET. Three examples will be spotlighted: VR Simulator for Wastewater Treatment Plants in Vietnam, VR training applications for welding students in Germany, and Creating a VR lab for construction courses in Ghana. As well as a panelist to talk about the VR educational industry perspective.
